Prelude: I am writing this post after a long deliberation of 2 months since I started the blog. Primarily I was not so serious about the project but finally the bubble burst a fortnight ago. Suddenly I got enlightened of my situation. It’s hard to be a sort of hitch hiker all the way to the end. I want to be my master with the steering of my life in my own hand. So started the journey of a dummy (it’s me lol). With my brother Naresh’s support started my market research about iPhone. Amazing 22 Million iPhones sold all over the world since release. So what’s in it for me? Well Apple has a nice plan of making some money by selling applications from third party developers. You might ask how many developers are out there? The core Application development SDK iPhone OS 3.0 has a 100,000 Downloads ONLY from Apple Site by individual developers and also companies. The competition is tough.
How I started: Started the usual Indian way of cheapest option, installing the Mac Leopard(OS) on a Virtual machine. I did this underestimating Mac for a Windows XP. Too bad, it didn’t take more than 10 minutes to figure out that I am on a road that leads to a cliff. So I am left with two options, to buy a Mac or rent one. I am so confident that I went for the latter option. Then started looking for people who rent Macs. After a week of searching found a Mac mini near paradise and went there. I was so elated that I got a Mac mini straight away rented it. After coming home I noticed it’s a Power PC G4 and iPhone OS 3.0 SDK is not supported on a G4. It should be at least an Intel based machine. So went there and again exchanged for an Intel.
What am I doing now: Came back home yesterday morning and created a makeshift office setup with backup inverter power, old monitor, my workhorse Tata indicom USB data card, lots of ideas, aspirations, and last but not the least, my dad’s iPhone gifted by my brother.
P.S: Thank you Sri Krishna for the downloads and support.
